It seems a number of breezing schools of LARGE bonita are 2-4 mi offshore from the point to the power plant. The smallest fish weighed was 13# with the largest over 15#. The sport boats were complaining that their counts weren't going to reflect the great fishing as the loss ratio was very high.
Most of the fish were breezers, but a number were caught trolling jigs and dropping bait back.
Also, I have an unconfirmed, but usually reliable, report of a significant catch of wsb between Laguna and Newport.
