Well, our wise legislators have allowed the Sacramento River salmon fishery to be nearly destroyed and really p*ssed off Southern Oregon fisherman by allowing mega-salmon takes by commercial fisherman over the last 4 years based on what was a very healthy population. Now the whoe state gets no salmon season and it will take at least 5 years to re-establish a solid(not robust) fishery. Some of us are getting older and I'm beginning to fear I may never catch a salmon in California waters again. I remember catching limits in 30 feet of water in Santa Barbara and Ventura county waters as recently as 1995. Last May year I fished the Rogue River in Oregon for spring salmon (with one of the best local guides) and caught nothing in three days. Look at the bizaare rockfish and ling regs and it's obvious these folks in government don't know defacation about fisheries and don't care fornication about anything but dollars and votes. With fish, it doesn't seem to matter which party, even though the one that says it cares most about the environment has had the overwhelming majority in this state. It's so easy to contact them by e-mail. I ask you contact your state reps and senators and ask them to take a look how they've screwed up our fisheries and ask them what they will do to fix them. Remaining silent makes you part of the problem. Don't post here. contact you elected representatives.
