Launched at 5:40am....made bait easily-- all the spanish I wanted and 1 greenie. Surf was up and pumping-- exciting (and a bit scary) in the dark! Took a couple to the face to wake me up...got out good. Trolled around for nothing but a lot of snags. Swell was big and thumpy....average of about 6'...some swells as big as 9'. Lots of broken kelp everywhere-- causing the snags. Tried fishing in the kelp for the elusive WSB that continues to elude me. No bites all day-- did not hear/see of any yakkers/pbers hook up at all. Landing surf was still up. Very large surf zone...reminded me of county line. I thought I had a lull and a sneaker big wave comes out...picks me up...I surfed it a little...but it was too strong and it spat me out! (I was getting a little too cocky on my landings-- been over a year getting dumped...so mother nature taught me a lesson!) All good-- no damage-- only lost an old pair of pliers that I needed to retire anyways. Talked with PAL at the beach-- he was testing some new yaks....new composite WS series looks pretty good to me!! (the 120 was CRAZY light!)
Oh well-- LJ is a very frustrating lover. Come home unsatisfied often....but sometimes get that great visit that makes all the skunky ones worthwhile. I'm just paying some dues...hoping next time!
