On May 5, 2008 Lake Casitas will open up for private boaters with a "Tag and lock system" after inspection and a one time $50 fee. I was told that private kayaks would not be allowed, but I could call (805) 649-2233 after that date to arrange some storage arrangement at the lake. This means no kayaks coming into and out of the site. That is too bad, it's the only kayaking fresh water fishery in the area.
